Art-in-architecture projects, special artistic installations, or works on site demand extensive interaction between planning and craftsmanship. Here the Kunstgiesserei provides a wide range of services, from advising, revision of concept, developmental work, and planning to the production of works and construction management.

Realizing an idea often requires a developmental phase in which various approaches to the realization of a work are tried and tested. With an inventive workshop for mechanics and electronics, we attempt to come as close as possible to the artistic requirements. In the case of structures in public spaces, the question of metal conservation often arises. The Kunstgiesserei is also able to provide expertise in this area. Complex architectonic designs are drafted for exhibition installations or stage sets, and realizing them means finding detailed, technical solutions. For us, work outside the workshop always means a stimulating exchange with circumstances relating to both content and location.

Opportunities for collaboration in the field of research have also resulted from close contacts to museums and monument conservators. As a contribution to the European research project “The Praying Boy”, the Kunstgiesserei, in cooperation with the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin, conducted investigations to study ancient casting and welding techniques.
