are used as fireproof mold making materials.

Chamotte is made from fireclay that has been fired and ground. When bound with plaster, it is used as a mold material.

Ceramic is used as a mold material for casting metals with high melting points. It is a silicic acid ester mixed with fireproof sand (Malachite or Zircon), and latex. The fluid, which ranges from clear-as-glass to milky-white, is applied in six to eight layers, dried and fired.

Furan Sand is used in the Kunstgiesserei for sand forms. Quartz sand mixed with furan resin hardens into a stable mold and can be recycled after the casting. Oil-bound sands are also customary. In the past, natural sand containing clay was used.
