Skinny Afternoon, 2003, aluminum, painted, ca. 190 x 155 x 130 cm
The commode and skeleton are solid aluminum castings; the Styrofoam original was burnt out during the casting process. Fischer then partially treated the as-cast pieces with color. The inlaid mirror was treated with acid to achieve artificial signs of age that will increase over time. The work was produced in May 2003 for the Venice Biennale. In connection with the same work, five chairs cast in aluminum were also produced from Styrofoam originals: “Chair for a Ghost: Thomas” and “Chair for a Ghost: Urs”.
