Clays, 2006–2008, aluminum, diverse formats (3 - 4.5 m tall)
Ix, Marguerite de Ponty, Miss Satin, Zizi
Clumps kneaded from clay with a size ranging from 4 to 7 centimeters serve as the basis for the series of sculptures “Clays”. On the surface of the models, the fingerprints of the artist are visible, indicating the artist’s working method. By means of computer tomography, the model is scanned, digitally enlarged to 3 to 4.5 meters, and milled from Styrofoam. The aluminum sculptures produced in the sand casting process are welded together and once again divided by the artist into a grid of horizontal and vertical lines, and then cut up and stuck together. The size of the sculpture addresses monumentality in interior space.
