We Make Unsubstantial Territory, 2007, concrete, ca. 250 x 100 x 70 cm
The sculpture “We Make Unsubstantial Territory” distinctly resembles a tilted ping-pong table although all the elements deviate from such a table to a great extent. The two-part rhombic tabletop and the supporting legs were cast in lightweight concrete and given strong reinforcement in order to ensure that the work can also be shown in spaces with limited floor loading capacity. The halves of the table were joined together by means of metal guide tubes.
“We Make Unsubstantial Territory” was presented as part of a large solo-exhibition at the Centre d’Art Contemporain in Geneva in 2007. Since the work is now also supposed to be shown outside, the Kunstgiesserei produced a second version in weatherproof hard concrete.
