Born 1959 in Säckingen (D), lives in Radolfzell (D) and Berlin
In his works, the sculptor Markus Daum combines fragments of plaster, partial remnants of castings, or incidental found objects into complex, fragile forms. The molding of the delicate sculptures is extremely complex and requires the greatest precision. The breathing of the jagged surface and the delicacy and presence of the materials should be retained in the casting. The pieces are cast in tombak – a low-alloy brass – and left for the most part in the raw casting.
